ISRII symposium: online help wellbeing of cancer patients

‘Making e/mHealth Impactful in People’s Lives’ is the theme of the 9th InternationaScientific Congress of ISRII (International Society for Research on Internet Interventions). With such a topic, Karify could not stay home. This is why our Research Coordinator and PhD Sanne van den Berg organizes a symposium, Saturday Oktober 14, during the ISRII-conference in Berlin.

The Netherlands are frontrunner online psycho-oncological support

During the symposium, different Dutch scientists will speak about their experiences regarding implementation of online psychological support of people with cancer. An area where the Netherlands are frontrunners in. In the Netherlands, multiple evidence-based online tools have become available for people with cancer.

Programme ISRII symposium

During the symposium, different scientists will talk: Maastricht University (Cancer Aftercare Guide), Radboud University Medical Center (SWORD – managing fear for cancer recurrence  & ‘Catching breath after breast cancer’ in collaboration with Karify), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Oncokompas) and IKNL: Cancer Center the Netherlands (national oncology-app store).

Catching Breath after Breast Cancer

Karify’s Sanne van den Berg presents about self help website Catching Breath after Breast Cancer. After the research phase this tool has become available since 2014 for women after breast cancer. Using log data, Sanne evaluates the use of the first 300 paying users. She will also discuss the bottlenecks concerning implementation.  This project will be executed in collaboration with Data Science researchers of Tilburg University.

ISRII poster usability test

At Karify we integrate research with the development of new functionalities. An example is the usability test of our mobile app (which will be released soon), for which we asked end users of GGZCentraal to participate. Rozanne van Diggelen, UX designer at Karify, tested the usability together with youngsters who are being treated for social anxiety. This project is carried out in collaboration with Lisette van Gemert-Pijnen (University of Twente) and is accepted for poster presentation at the ISRII congress.
